Here is a fine little (EASY) recipe for hamburger turtles:

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave, then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs with slits for toes and tail.

Next step. Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees. A little crispy, not too crunchy…just how a turtle should be, no?

Sounding good? (To bad it wasn’t REAL turtle meat – Gotta think Primal!)

Yummy Hamburgers!

So, try cooking these yourself and send me images and any extra little variations that you might come up with.

So, yours truly was asked to be a soccer coach for my son’s soccer league. What in the WORLD do I know about soccer? Well, lets see. There are two teams of some number of players, both teams defend a goal where the players are trying to kick the ball into, the one with the most points at the end of the game wins. Yes, that’s about it.

So why did I accept? NO earthly idea. I believe the closest I’ve ever came to coaching was…. uhm…. maybe high school football when I was a player? I figure it will be fun and a learning process for myself as well as the kids. I love kids, more so now since I have two of my own.

Whities Boys

Tanner and Walker. I’m the big ugly one holding the two good looking ones.

Now I’m looking around books, tutorials and anything else. I’m scared, no seriously I am. Six kids (no idea if it’s boys and girls), four years of age and under kids will be my team. I assume I’ll be “the coach”, but I HOPE there is a second “main” coach or “assistant” coach since I’m really neither. So looking on Amazon I found this book: The Baffled Parent’s Guide to Coaching 6-and-Under Soccer. That is me to the T. Totally Baffled. I’m going to order the digital copy so I can read it on my iPhone. I’m not much of one to sit and read a book very often, although I have before. I’ve found several resources online that I’ve bookmarked and will read when I get the chance.

Thinking about it…. Since I accepted the coaching part, I’ve been thinking of something I’d like to do. I’m sure the three and four year olds are too young right now (maybe not?), but I had considered pulling Crossfit into the equation here. Ok, maybe not CFHQs, but something more like Crossfit Kids. What better way to keep the kids active and healthy? I’d love to do it and could possibly do it with no issues, although there is a small draw back. I would have to have the Crossfit Level 1 Cert before I could take the Crossfit Kids Cert (CFKCert in Atlanta, the closest to me.) I just don’t happen to have an extra 2000 it’d take (more with travel for CFL1cert) to get both certs. Maybe in time I can and I hope to, just wish I had the means now.

So back to coaching. I’m sure after the Coach’s meeting this Friday, I’ll have a better understanding of what I’m supposed to be doing. I forget the guys name, but he’s a soccer player and coach and will be the one teaching the academy clinic we will have once a week. (I believe it’s once a week.) I’m just not sure about coaching these little ones when I have no clue about soccer and coaching. I was told the main thing to teach/coach the kids is to not touch the ball with their hands and to kick it to the opposing teams goal. Sounds simple enough, right? I hope so.

I’ll keep everyone updated on my progression of becoming a coach. I figure the best thing to do it to make it fun for myself and the kids. It’s all about fun at this age and I hope I can make it fun for all.

Wish me luck!

Before I even read this article, I tested it myself without even knowing I was testing it out.

My wife and I have the personal alarm clock that wakes us up at 5:30 (almost on the spot) every morning. So, we don’t even use a clock for the alarm anymore. Well, with the personal alarm clock and our oldest son, it takes sometime to get everyone up and ready to head out to school/work for the day. Well, for the last week, I didn’t get a chance to cook/eat breakfast. Most usually on those days, I’ll swing by Sonic, McDs or somewhere to eat. (MOST important meal of the day, right?) Well, being on the budget we are on (read that as broke) I haven’t had the chance to stop and get breakfast.

OH NOAS! (Not really.) I’ve started working with Intermittent Fasting (IF). A few days I’d go for 18 hours and a couple I’d go with 24 hours. (Or as close as I could.) I would do an on a day and off a day schedule. Of the days I’d fast, I really (sounds like I’m trying to sell something) felt as though I had more energy, could think better and concentrate, and my mood/attitude/demeanor was “better”. My wife asked me if I was on drugs those days. After work, I’m usually not the happiest fellow to be around. My oldest son usually got the blunt of it when I’d get on to him about stupid stuff. (I apologized several times and make the effort to not do it anymore. (Pick my battles.)) But I felt great on those days. I could almost consider not ever eating if I could feel like that every day.

Did I lose any weight? Naaa, not at all. But what it did do for me was help me make proportions smaller. (That’s good, I could eat a cows whole ass in one sitting. ;P) Plus the mental clarity that I experienced with it.

So, where am I going with this and what about the “wow” article?

EliteFTS

Briefly it describes how breakfast really isn’t the most important meal of the day. Waiting till 11 or 12 (or when you get hungry) to eat. Well, for the last week I’ve done this and I actually went down three pounds. Last Saturday/Sunday I weighed in at 323lbs. Saturday morning I weighed in at 320lbs. I even ate not so good. I did eat less, but I still had a few “bad” carbs and other bad carb desserts. So it was quite shocking that I had lost weight.

So, this week I’m going to do the samething again to see if it actually does work. I was quite surprised at the weight lose and then I stumble upon this article. I’ll weigh myself first thing in the morning and then again Sunday morning to see how it goes.
